The tribute, “Zum fünfundsiebenzigsten Geburtstage des Präsidenten der Kaiser Wilhelm-Gesellschaft Max Planck” ("On the seventy-fifth birthday of the President of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society Max Planck”) is in the April 21, 1933 issue of the journal Die Naturwissenschaften, offered here complete with a portrait of Planck.

Fritz Haber, German chemist. Often thought of as the ‘father of chemical warfare’, Haber received the 1918 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for work that allowed for the large-scale synthesis of fertilizers and explosives. By 1931 Haber grew concerned about the rise of National Socialism in Germany. He was Jewish, and by 1933 he and his family had left Germany. Within a year, Haber was dead.
